Depression
Feeling depressed can be a reaction to particular happenings in life, or to certain primary human needs not being fulfilled.
In our modern society, our sense of community has greatly diminished, and this along with different components, such as the breakdown of the extended family and increased work requirements have led to higher rates of depression.
Depression can be serious, but depression can be subdued with understanding how depression operates and taking the steps to being free from depression once and for all.
Popular symptoms of depression:
• Waking up feeling empty
• A disturbed sleep pattern, oftentimes with vivid, unsettling dreams
• Early waking in the morning, and experiencing hassle getting back to sleep
• Trouble focusing
• Missing motivation to do tasks you used to savor
• Self-absorption and contemplation – torment, anxiousness and sometimes compulsive thinking
• Growing distressed, sometimes bereaved for no reason
• Short temper, feeling irritable.
Depression tends to make people:
• Have a strong black and white (all or nothing) thinking, for instance, thinking that “everything will be perfect when I lose weight/get a job/find a partner”
• Catastrophising Everything – Misapplying the mental imagination, considering that the worst feasible outcome will happen and that regular, everyday things that go sideways are a catastrophe
• Blame themselves for things going wrong
• Reflection – spending a lot of time thinking about sad matters, or things that make them feel uneasy
